to send some footage of your practice with your child &

we will have a one hour Skype (or equivalent) session to discuss your practice and other issues

Timing - at your own pace

Content:

  • How communication is learnt in typical development

  • The nature and purpose of human communication

  • Intensive interaction basic principles

  • How Intensive Interaction differs from most other teaching approaches/ Emergent Learning Outcomes

  • How to reflect on your own practice

  • Progress in Intensive Interaction – how it happens and how to record it

  • The importance of play

After the 4-unit course, you may sign up for additional, single units at any time  (i.e. there is no need to do another full course).

Learning Through Social Connection

I have written a book on Intensive Interaction which can be downloaded for FREE Printed copies can be ordered from  mail@treatingautism.co.uk. Printed copies are also free although a donation to the charity Treating Autism (who provide the book for free) is appreciated.

Any questions?
Intensive Interaction Training

I train both professionals and families, delivering INSET or training days and workshops in schools, other organisations or in people's homes.

Other talks...

'Tom's story' I tell my son's Intensive Interaction story, with clips - also doubles up as further training for those who already have basic training or knowledge of Intensive Interaction

'Biomedical' and autism

I give an introductory talk to medical issues for individuals with autism - this talk is aimed at non-medical professionals. Parents may attend but tend to want more guidance on treatments or interventions than I am qualified or confident to give.

Facebook "Intensive Interaction for Parents" group

I run a Facebook group for parents or family members who use Intensive Interaction. It is called 'Intensive Interaction for parents', please join us! I set this group up because, although a Facebook group for I.I. users already exists, I thought that discussions for us are much more personal than they are for professionals and that we should have our own, more private space.

Feedback from training sessions

Amazing

Enough and interesting information given.

Good to see different types of Intensive Interaction in action – DVD clips helpful to see and hear the benefits from the speaker's personal view.

Excellent.

Good information thankyou

I’ll have a go – permission to take time and to be in the moment (bubble).

Good advice – easy to remember.

Very interesting – something to look at using with my child and maybe for school to look at using also.

Great to see the effects of positive play.

Learned something new today – very interesting.

informative and interesting.

really interesting thankyou.

very engaging.

I do some sensitive interaction but I now have a better understanding of the importance.

An enjoyable session . Use of visual aids good for this time slot after lunch. Informative and awareness raising therapies /strategies.
